Welcome to Windyhill Garden

Winter to spring 2025: Spring is in sight although we can’t quite reach it yet. So far it has been colder than previous winters so we are really ready for warmer days. Although daylily bloom season is still a long time coming, we will be in the garden every warm day so that we will be ready when the blooms are.

We have updated our website for spring 2025, and have added quite a few new listings this year.  We did release 8 new intros last fall, so please take a look at those.  If you have questions regarding daylilies we may have, please do email us.    windyhill101@yahoo.com

We will dig spring orders from early April through late May and ship when the weather is right for you.

Our hybridizing efforts continue to show progress as seen on our Futures page. We add pictures each year to the futures page. Patterns are making some progress and broken colors in UF’s are our dreams.

As many of you know, Wanda is the “Hummingbird lady”. Like the daylilies, they will soon be back. A couple weeks after all the normal hummingbird visitors had left last fall, we were surprised one morning to see a Rufus Hummer looking in our side door window. She looked much the same as a Ruby Throated, just brown. Our first non-Ruby Throated sighting. An interesting bit of hummer info, they seem to like Harris Teeter sugar better than other brands. At first I thought it was Wanda’s imagination, but it does seem to be true. Wanda now has the neighbors feeding the local hummers and they say the same thing, use Harris Teeter sugar. Go figure!.  Also, just for fun, I ask Wanda to keep track of how much sugar she purchased for the hummers in 2022. 220 pounds!!  Amazing..
 Thanks, Raymond & Wanda Quinn
