Fall Update: 2024 was another good daylily bloom season. Our open house during bloom season was well attended. Enough so that we plan for it to be two days next year.
We are updating the website for fall 2024, with 8 new intros. Hurray!!! We would be delighted for you to look around and if you see something you like, we taking fall orders for another couple weeks.
Please do stop by during bloom season to see the daylilies in person and maybe order a few. We will coordinate a pick-up time when the daylilies, as well as you, will be having weather more suitable for transplanting.
Our hybridizing efforts continue to show progress as seen on our Futures page. I add pictures each year to the futures page. Patterns and broken colors in UF’s are our dream. Please stop by the garden during this bloom season although please call ahead to make sure we will be here.
As always, Wanda adds of her winter pots, as well as her Birds, Bees, and Butterflies blog page so be on the lookout for that in the coming weeks.
As many of you know, Wanda is the “Hummingbird lady”. Most are gone now with many passer-through’s now stopping by each evening. The back porch is still busy. With so many, they don’t fight as much as usual but the passer-through’s do fight more than the permanent residents during the summer. An interesting bit of hummer info, they seem to like Harris Teeter sugar better than other brands. At first I thought it was Wanda’s imagination, but it does seem to be true. Wanda now has the neighbors feeding the local hummers and they say the same thing, use Harris Teeter sugar. Go figure!. Also, just for fun, I ask Wanda to keep track of how much sugar she purchased for the hummers in 2022. 200 pounds!! Amazing..
Thanks, Raymond & Wanda Quinn
