Raymond’s New Introductions

We have now updated our website for 2024 and it is ready to go. As we do each year, we have added a few of our own intros as well as many others from various hybridizers that we hope many of you will like. We try to be selective, as we have hybridizing in mind for most of our plant purchases. We would be happy for you to look around and delighted if you would like to order a few. We always ship more than two fans with our intros as well as all other plants we ship. Often they can be 3 to 6 fans, as we always want to ship nice size plants that will establish well and bloom quickly. As we do each year, we have added some new additions and retired a few that had been around a while.

For spring shipments we will ship from early April until the end of May. For fall shipments we outlook those shipping from early September  through late October. We normally do not dig during bloom season (June through August) as daylilies aren’t happy moving then, we are focusing on hybridizing during that time, and like to keep the garden fresh for visitors during bloom season. We would be happy for you to visit and delighted if you would like to order a few during your visit. We will arrange a pick-up time when it isn’t as hot so the plants and you will be happier during their move. Thanks and happy gardening for 2024.

PLEASE NOTE: We ask for a $40 minimum order, when shipping by mail, so it will cover all our shipping expenses for our heavier plants. We appreciate your interest and business. Please visit us during bloom season if you have the opportunity, although please call ahead to make sure we are home.

Thank you again for your business and enjoy the virtual visit.

Windyhill’s Emerald Eyes

R. Quinn (2022 Fall) Height – 30″, Bloom – 7.5″, Semi-Evergreen, Early-Mid Season, Rebloom, Branches – 3, Buds – 15, Fragrant, DIP: ((Navajo Pony x Monocacy Summer Mist) X Lillian’s Vapor Trail)

Soft rose petals and sepals. Petals have some veining as well as a darker band. The eye starts as emerald green and transitions to more yellow shading near the petal color. It consistently rebloomed into mid September. Not tested as a parent yet, but will be. $65

Strange Things Happen

R. Quinn (2022 Fall) Height – 31″, Bloom – 6.5″, Dormant, Early-Mid Season, Rebloom, Branches – 3, Buds – 18, DIP: (Katisue Herrington x  Boss Hogg)

Burnished rose bicolor with yellow green sepals with rose blush on tips, large, yellow green throat, recurved sepals. Unusual Form Cascade, with the sepals recurved much more than the petals. A very unusual look. I doubted myself that I had the correct parentage for this flower until another seedling from the next years crosses looked very similar. Just not what you would expect from that cross. Sometimes they are predictable, other times, surprise! $45

Lemon With A Twist Of Lime

R. Quinn (2022 Fall) Height – 39″, Bloom – 6.00″, Dormant, Mid-Season, Branches – 5, Buds – 35, Fragrant, DIP: (Monocacy Summer Mist x  Sdlg 13-124)

Lemon self with very lime green throat, faint midribs on petals, sepals twist and roll under. It is a Crispate-Cascade Unusual Form. It is not AYD. (another yellow daylily) So many times, yellow daylilies will have very good plant habit as well as very desirable form. This is one of those. Often a garden favorite of the day $40

Mother And Child Reunion

R. Quinn (2022 Fall) Height – 35″, Bloom – 6.75″, Dormant, Mid-Season, Rebloom, Branches – 3, Buds – 16, TET: (Windyhill’s Discovery x  Windyhill’s Dreamsicle)

Burnt orange, recurved petals and sepals, large, extended yellow green throat. I haven’t explored ‘Windyhill’s Dreamsicle’ as much as I should for its hybridizing potential. This is the first and I expect others will follow. It is a mother (WH. Discovery) and child (WH. Dreamsicle) reunion, and named for the Paul Simon song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0BUsDf0dxY
